EduTechNovation Day

The last event for the semester is finally over yeay! This marks the end of the semester, minus the finals of course. On the 3rd June of 2016, our event starts off at around 9 o'clock am. We started by drawing lots to determine the pitching turn and the video presentation. We was not listed as one of the top three but i have to admit those who does definitely did a great job.

Watching our videos through other's eyes, i saw a few things that we could have improved.

1) Sound - Well, the transition of the sounds are something i could definitely worked since it seems to be too abrupt and we could have focus on the actors voice instead of the background noise.

2) The message _ Well, i think the message of the video was not very clear. One should watch the trailer first in order to understand the purpose of the video thus we could definitely work on that.

Regardless, we did our best in that situation. Though we could have done better, this experience would definitely helps us further in the future. Here is the link to our videos. Hope you enjoy!

Here are some of our group members and our poster :D

Week 9 Reflection

Marc Riboud once said that taking pictures is like savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.

Looking through pictures, we can see the people we used to be, the moment we once lived in. It reminds us of the good memories. Soooooo why am i talking about pictures? Because today's class is main focus is *drum rolls* Photography. She taught us of different shots taken to highlight features in a photo and how it changes the focus of the photo. Here are among the tips i took from 40 tips to take better photos

"Get in close

It was the famous photojournalist Robert Capa who once said “If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” He was talking about getting in amongst the action. If you feel like your images aren’t ‘popping’, take a step or two closer to your subject. Fill the frame with your subject and see how much better your photo will look without so much wasted space. The closer you are to the subject, the better you can see their facial expressions too.

"Buy books, not gear

Having expensive camera equipment doesn’t always mean that you’ll take good photos. I’ve seen some absolutely amazing images shot with nothing more than a smart phone. Instead of having ten different lenses, invest in some fantastic photography books. By looking at the work of the masters, not only do you get inspired, you come away with ideas to improve your own photos."
This is also an interesting fact i took from the same website teehee

" Use flash during the day
You might think that you should only use flash at night time or indoors, but that’s not the case at all. If it is an extremely bright day outside and the sun is creating harsh shadows on your subject, switch on your flash. By forcing extra light onto your subject, you will be able to fill in those ugly shadows and create an even exposure.

After the lecture, we were given the instruction to take our friend's photo. Just as a hand on experience and for us to practice what we learnt in the lecture. Here's mine. This is Fiyy btw.

Well, this class is to prepare us for Putrajaya's photography trip on the 14th May. Here are among the pictures i took there to commemorate the day :D You can see it from the link here

Week 8 Reflection

For today's class, as it is closer for our video production, Dr Khalid introduces us to lots of video editing software online. He teaches us how to use Windows Movie Maker and it is surprisingly very easy. The computers were not working very well, so i do the videos together with Syafiqa. We were required to do a video using Windows Movie Maker after the tutorial class with Dr Khalid and we were to combine several videos and infuse other elements of media such as songs and text. We also added different motions to make the video interesting.

By using Windows Movie Maker, i personally think the user are able to catch on pretty quick on the tools available. Plus, the download is free and it is compatible with most computers. There are other video editing software online, but most of them requires lots of trial and error to catch on the concepts and to figure out the right tools. Using Windows Movie Maker is certainly easier to master and even beginner are able to produce high quality videos.

Here are the results for our video production. We compile several dessert recipes for anyone that wanted to try. Hope you enjoy :)

Week 7 Reflection

For today's virtual classroom, our group did a discussion to improve our story board. Things were fine so far, and i hope it will be smooth for our video recording later after the mid semester break! Can't wait to go homeeee :))

Oh, and here is our latest storyboard based on the discussions and comments from earlier.

We were still working on the pictures but the descriptions is there. :)

Week 6 Reflection

Out of all the class I've attended, this is definitely the best so far :)))

We learnt how to edit audios and mix it with different audios using Audicity. We have to download songs first of course. After the clear instructions by Dr Khalid, we were given our own space to do the experiments on our own. We do our own versions of mash up songs and it was okay i think, though we still need to polish our skills some more. This information is certainly vital in our future. We can use this in our video for EduTechnovation day lol. I hope things go well for our videos. We have not started our recording yet since we have to work on the story board a little more. Wish us luck!

Week 5 Reflection

During our fifth week of class, each of our groups were given a method of presenting in class using traditional media. It was quite useful for us because we might use them in the future. The class that we might teach in the future might not have the necessary equipment for us to use, thus it will eventually comes back to the traditional media as a medium of presenting. Plus it doesn't cost much ;) Among the methods are white/blackboard, mahjung paper, poster and slides.

Our method is white/blackboard. Well, among the perks of using a white/blackboard of course is the low cost and it is easy to use. And it is almost a necessity for a classroom to have a blackboard or a whiteboard. Thus you don't have to buy anything and it saves money on that particular matter. By copying things the teacher write on the blackboard/whiteboard, the students can improves both their attention span and memory span. This will definitely helps in their studies. Perhaps the only bad thing about copying the information would be the students would not be paying attention to teacher because they were more focused in writing down the information thus the teacher would have to improve their class management skills. all in all, today's class is very informative.

Us preparing for the presentation.

Week 4 Reflection

Hello everyonee.

So for the 4th week, it was all about the video. We were required to do a video as explained in the proforma. So we were given time to do the storyboard and we have to present it by the end of the class. We were doing 10 ways to be happy. It sounds simple but nowadays people are so stressed out they forgot how to be happy. Being happy, is an option. It may differs for everyone, the ways to be happy. But we managed to google the general way on how people can be happy. I hope the messages get through and people would be able to enjoy our video.

This assignment, for me, i think it helps in building creativity and it helps improving our teamwork. Can't wait to starttt!

This is our presentation on our storyboard of the few ways people can be happy. Enjoyy :D
